I discovered June Kato when she appeared with Leopold Blake in Nick Stephenson's RATIO. I enjoyed their interaction and went looking for more of Ms Kato.I don't like spoiler reviews, so I will not mention details. I felt the characters were realistic and well developed. Information about Japanese culture was artfully woven into the story, always just the right blend of interesting and important to the storyline. It was lively and moved at the perfect pace.
And Kimono Suicide passed my number one test with flying colors: I did not want to put it down.

Thoroughly enjoyed this introduction to June Kato, the brain surgeon who kicks @ss and deals with everything from a model sister to a gruesome apparent suicide in her back yard. A reader of my mysteries pointed me to Kay Hadashi's series as one that reminded her of my books, and now that I've read this I understand why! Fast paced with authentic touches that highlight Japanese culture, June is a heroine who stays in your mind and who you wish good things for.

I like the character June Late.
Wow, I was drawn into this book from the start. I liked all the drama and suspense the author put into this book.
So the protagonist is a doctor and a fashion model. However that works out, ooooookkkaaay. However, more time is spent on the obsessing over the modeling career than the far more interesting aspect of being a doctor, or, trying to figure out what happened and who might have killed the girl in the tea house. Will not be buying anymore books from this author
Interesting insight into Japanese culture. For a mystery, the story line is somewhat tame though interesting. The "who done it" scenario was predictable to me very early in the reading. For light summer reading and for 99 cents, it is worth it.
Interesting story. I enjoy the cultural aspects more than the crime solving.
This was well written and fun to read, but a bit predictable. The female lead is a smart, savvy doctor, respected in her field, who also happens to be a drop dead professional model in her spare time. It was nice to read about a heroine who was quite capable of saving herself, but I would have enjoyed it even if she had not been superwoman.
